OUR STORY

This is the story of Buckets: a trusted analyst whose journey started with humble beginnings, ultimately shaping him into a trusted source of insight and expertise.

My bucket roots go deep. Being the son of a local legend, I was brought to watch my dad’s basketball games before I could walk or talk & by the time I could, I couldn’t get enough of the game. When I turned 18 I joined my dad’s local team during his final years in his late 50’s. Growing up, I was the kid who would go through newspaper articles reading about my dad dropping 50 points in the 1970’s, and idolizing him while inheriting his obsession for basketball. In Kindergarten my dad introduced me to March Madness, and his “work pool” that he ran. He would put a stack of paper brackets in front of me and let me highlight the winners and losers of each round as he graded everything by hand (before pools became digital). Little did I know, 25 years later I would start dominating March Madness pools, year in and year out, selling my bracket every year to hundreds of clients as my full time job.

Basketball is my life’s passion, and I’ve been surrounding myself with it my entire life. As a kid in 2001, my bookshelf was primarily made up of every Shaquille O’neal biography ever written (for elementary school kids). I remember wearing NBA jerseys to school every week. When I had writing assignments in middle school I would choose to write about Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell and other legends while my peers chose to idolize modern day celebrities for their English class writing assignments. I’d shoot free throws with my dad every single day of my life, and to this day I’ll beat anyone in a free throw competition. Ask me about my favorite summers as a kid, they were at sleep-away basketball camp. It’s always been all basketball all year round since I can remember. My whole life growing up I was the short 3 point sniping guard, and then I grew 10 inches in junior year of high school. At 6’4 I didn’t lose my deep shot and became the modern Kristaps Porzingis type of player before he was around. My reputation as a shooter held up in college pickup basketball. When I wasn’t in class or partying I was playing basketball nearly every day with college. My roommate was one of the best point guards in eastern Massachusetts, and my best friend at school went on to play overseas. I kept my circle small and I kept my circle full of bucket getters. I’d play ball with them nearly every day, for all 4 years. Not only was I living in the city where basketball was invented (Springfield, MA), but the basketball courts in Springfield is where I got my name “Buckets” in 2014.

I was going to school for my finance degree, and the irony of my time in school sounds too good to be true but I swear I’m not lying. My dreams of making the NBA as a kid were eventually replaced by a corporate dream of being a financial advisor. My advanced math skills drove me to study risk management at school, but in class I would often open up DFS (daily fantasy sports) lineup optimizer tools and handicap NBA players’ point projections, on the school computer, in the middle of class for the entire semester. I remember it vividly and I find it funny that I was essentially preparing myself for my future in ways I could never imagine. Basketball has always been my passion and I’m the most basketball obsessed person you’ll ever meet.

Now, after signing a major brand deal with the Action Network as a Professional Sports Betting Expert, I am essentially a financial advisor (just like I always planned), except I get to study the NBA and College Basketball landscape instead of stocks. I don’t watch other sports during basketball seasons, and for 9 months a year all I consume is basketball content online, on tv, and in person (Traveling to 2+ college basketball games per week all winter)

After getting my finance degree in 2017, and gaining professional experience in various sales roles at Paychex, Budweiser, and UPS I decided to apply for a job that aligns closer with actual interests of mine. I applied to be a financial analyst for the local casino here in Connecticut. I worked for them for about a year, and had my own cubicle in the basement underneath Fanduel. I spent countless hours analyzing gamblers and their gaming patterns as well as managing win/loss financial statements associated with them. This behind the curtain access to the casino, Fanduel, and their analytic tools to track gamblers gave be experience that no other Sports Betting Handicapper will ever have. So I took what I learned, and I ran with it.

I quit my job in September 2023 to become a full time sports bettor, only betting on the NBA and college basketball. Since leaving the corporate side of the casino my mission has been to work hard, inspire others and help them beat the casinos I used to work for.

Did I mention I got married in the summer of 2024? My wife and I have been together since high school and you can probably guess which sport she dominated in.

Yes, it was basketball. She was a freshman on Varsity in high school, a captain by senior year, and went on to average 15+ points and 10+ rebounds as one of the best D3 basketball players in all of Massachusetts.

Basketball runs my life & now you know why “IT’S BUCKETS”

& Here’s what ChatGPT wrote about me in third person. Have a laugh reading AI’s interpretation of how we built this thing from the ground up;

Buckets narrative unfolds in 2016, during his senior year of college, a time when textbooks and lectures intersected with his unwavering passion for basketball. It was within the confines of a University that Buckets developed this nickname, from his daily presence in the gym, sharp shooting, and ability to score in the clutch. While earning his Finance Degree – he began studying risk management full-time while optimizing NBA Daily Fantasy Lineups in his spare time. With a laptop as his companion, he delved into the realm of statistics and player dynamics. Astonishingly, he achieved not just a sporadic victory, but a consistent documented winning streak on X, previously known as Twitter, from 2016-2019 that captured the attention of onlookers, as he tracked his pregame lineups’ success rate, transparently on Twitter.

What ignited as an unassuming hobby, soon transformed into an all-consuming passion, and evolved into @locksunderwater on Instagram 4 years later, in 2020. Buckets’ ability to dissect player performance, and forecast outcomes became his defining hallmark, as he began steering towards teams covering the spread, instead of daily fantasy player stats. In 2024 he quit his job at the casino and rebranded to @itsbucketsnba gaining 50,000 followers in his first 2 months, and eventually getting followed by NBA Analysts Richard Jefferson and Kendrick Perkins.

Peers who once cast doubtful glances, now sought his pregame insight and post game evaluations, as Sports Betting slowly became legalized across the country. His clients continue to return over the years because of the holes he has dug them out of. A true pioneer, it is all proof that Buckets was ahead of his time, doing what many fraudulent “wanna-be’s” now try to imitate 8 years later.

Today, Buckets stands as a preeminent NBA and College Basketball Analyst, who has a Finance degree and 8 years of expertise at only 29 years old. Recently he landed in the top 5% of ESPN’s March Madness Tourney Challenge every year in 2020, 2021, 2022 & 2023 and the numbers speak for themselves. He has nurtured his skills, and refined his methods each year. Those same players he intensely studied 5 years ago are now taking over the league as Lebron and Curry begin to pass their torches. Buckets is once again ahead of the game.

His winning ways stem from immersing himself in the intricacies of basketball statistics, trends, and strategies. He credits inspiration from his late friend, and mentor who always claimed, “Winners find a way to Win”. Buckets hopes to keep his legacy alive by passing the inspiration forward to others.

Buckets is not merely an analyst – he is an aficionado who’s path has been shaped by experience. From his formative days to the present moment, his trajectory has been driven by unwavering dedication. He still balls every Sunday at 7am with other washed up athletes to get his weekly dose of buckets. His insights are rooted in data, and enriched by personal encounters, having traveled to 50+ local college basketball games per year in the past few years. He doesn’t follow any other sports and his enduring love for this sport is unmatched and even obsessive. He even wears an ACL scar proudly on his knee, blowing his knee out on a layup as the game of basketball battle tested him and sent a blessing in disguise by sending him through a transformative rebirth that lead to him bouncing back and achieving all time highs in virtually every aspect of life.

In the realm of basketball analysis, one voice emerges – It’s Buckets – and it’s not just a catchphrase – it’s the embodiment of dedication and expertise.
